Mark Golderman

Mark Golderman is a Woodstock-based photographer. Golderman attended Pratt Institute from 1966 to 1970, where he graduated in Industrial Design. Having worked in contract interiors, fashion, photography, and as the president of D.F. Sanders, the home furnishings concern on Madison Ave., Golderman felt that designing residential interiors was a natural career progression. He currently works for EvolveD Interiors in the Hudson Valley.

Some of his notable works are derived from his flea market photographs, which "illustrate the chance compositions of disparate objects". Golderman's work has been shown in the Hal Bromm Gallery over many years, including recent exhibitions: "Color" 1 April-20 November 2021; "Honoring Stonewall" 2 May - 21 June 2019; "40: The Anniversary Exhibition" 25 October 2015 - 31 March 2016; "Photography Show" 7 March - 25 May 2018; "Black & White" 27 January - 30 March 2006. Golderman has also exhibited with numerous artists such as Frederic Amat, Lisa Beck, and Jan Davidoff.

Golderman’s highly praised Versailles Portfolio, commissioned by the Helicon Foundation in 1981, features a series of ten images capturing the famous palace and gardens. Golderman was invited to create the portfolio by Albert Fuller and created the photographs to illustrate symposia on Early Music in the Court of Versailles. Fuller co-founded the prestigious Aston Magna Music Festival, America’s oldest annual festival devoted to music performed on period instruments. A series of books based on the themes of the Aston Magna Academies is being published. The Cibachrome prints were printed in a small edition of four, of which only individual images are available today.

“My parents gave me a 35mm camera when I was in high school. I’ve been making color photographs ever since. Kodachrome slides were magic to me. The images here were taken with a digital camera at the long-gone 25th Street flea market in New York. The oddball mix of things provided me with endless subjects”
