In her most recent work, "Slate Pieces", Wagner works directly with oil slick and/or pastel on natural slate panels. Using a transfer method involving adhesive tape and plexiglass, additional panels are created from the original making the final work a series of up to four panels. Grace Glueck, art critic for the New York Times, called Wagner a gifted colorist and a delicate craftsman, whose work is "a feast for the eyes".
